Hi Friends and Family!!
This week has been so amazing, there could have been no better way to end a transfer! We had transfer calls yesterday and of course all the elders tried to scare me and tell me i was going to get transferred thankfully i did not and get to stay here one more transfer. I have been in Wasilla my entire mission which is pretty crazy to think about but I love it here and want to stay here as long as the lord desires. Plus being with Sister Davis has been such a blessing so to serve with her for one more transfer will be great.
We have so much work that is progressing and we are doing. Last week was great our investigators are progressing and things are moving along. For both Oscar and EJ's lesson's this week we took new fellow shippers from the other ward so they could start to get to know the members from that ward. Both of the people picked were truly inspired we had lessons with them that have never been better. As their baptism dates are getting closer I am feeling better about their preparation to be baptised and listen to the spirit. It is so amazing how a lesson can go when you are listening to the prompting of the spirit. We always have a lesson planned but when going with the direction of the spirit the need of the person is what is going to be taught. Being directed by the spirit and having those experiences is so amazing.
On Friday we taught Sonya again, she is truly changing and coming unto Christ. She has been taught by elders in the past for over a year now and just recently moved to our area. Over these past 3 weeks of meeting with her we have literally seen a physical change in her and a desire to make these necessary changes. When we taught on Friday it was so great to see her interact with us and ask questions and write the different things down. I have never had an investigator actually write the things we are teaching down so that they will remember them throughout the week. It was just another sign of her making these changes and being eager. We invited her to come to Nathan's baptism which she was excited to come.
Nathan's Baptism was an amazing experience which I will never forget. President and Sister Dance came out and attended the baptism that day which we appreciated. When Nathan walked in at the beginning he came in with his mom and his sister who are not members. It was such a great experience for them to be able to witness their family member making this covenant with heavenly father. And to be able to talk to him afterwards about his sister and the opportunities their. The spirit at this baptism was overwhelming, as i gave the opening prayer i was could feel the emotion in the room. Two wonderful talks were given and after the baptism his wife shared her testimony about her journey and how thankful she was to have her husband make this choice in his life. Sonya was also able to attend, and she said something that really touched us. She told our mission president you can literally feel the spirit in this room and I want this. She is looking forward to her baptism date of September 4th as are we and preparing herself for that day. To see Nathan make this covenant and know he will be sealed in the temple a year from now was such a marvelous experience i will never forget.
That evening Lanaya who is Victor's sister was also baptised at the stake baptism. It is alot different when they do 5 kids all at the same time that is for sure. We did a special musical number with her which was a great experience. We have been able to visit their home for month now with victor being a new member and their father is also not a member. He is not interested in being taught but eats with us and will listen to out thoughts we share. Our bishop baptised lanaya and he went up to him and said "thanks there is some things a man aughta do for his family and this one i cannot". I know one day he will join the church it is just a matter of time. They are a wonderful family and he is a great person.
Well we have some people we are looking forward to begin teaching this transfer, i am so grateful to be here on my mission. And for the simple evidences i see everyday of the truths of the gospel. Well I love you all and hope you are doing good!
Love,
Sister Booth
