Something you said stuck with me.....
Hi Friends and Family,
This past week has been such a good week! It feels like such a bitter sweet to think that I have only two weeks left. I was saying a prayer yesterday and told my heavenly father that I would stay here another year if he would just let me. The goodness of sharing the gospel and seeing the light in people's eyes and just working each and everyday is ever so rewarding even with the trials that come right along with it. I love this work and I could not be more than thankful to the opportunities I have had to be here and to know the people of Alaska.
This week we had an experience of teaching a new person who's name is Dale, this experience was pretty neat in the way that we met. The Sunday before last we were contacting people on the ward list that we did not know to bring them back to church and were going to contact a lady named Cindy. Well when we knocked on the door a gentlemen in I would say his 40's or 50's answered the door. Of course we are thinking this is clearly not Cindy and we ask if she does live there and he tells us that he has just moved in. Well we go on to tell him who we are and invite him to hear the gospel. I of course was prepared to the usual no thank you that is not for me but instead he says "yes, but now is not a good time can you come back in a few weeks?" We walk off thinking sure we will but not thinking anymore than that. Well 2 days later we get a call from the mission office for a referral in our area and come to find out the referral's name was Dale. We are thinking is this the same person we just met a few days ago? Well he wanted to be called that day, sure enough when we called him it was the same Dale. He had searched in the phone book and other places to try and get back in touch with us. He said it took him hours but he knew he wanted to speak to the same two people that stood at his door. I was a little shocked to say the least!
Well we went to visit Dale the very next day and we knew this was a very troubled soul. We had Rebeka with us and when we went in the first thing he had us do was read 3 pages of paper about his life and his past. It was very sad but it opened up the door to helping Dale see that he can be healed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The short lesson we shared went so well and it was so amazing to me when he shared that when he shut the door after talked to us that first day he said something we said stuck with him and he knew that we had something that would change his life. I love this gospel and to see how it can literally change people, to see the spirit work is so amazing.
We are also excited to have Justin get baptized this Saturday and to have Graham get baptized soon. He accepted a date in July and we are really excited as he is progressing so well. The Gospel is truly amazing and I am so thankful to be a part of it!
I hope you are all doing amazing and I am glad that I do get to see you soon:) Thank you so much for all your continued love and support throughout my mission, it has meant so much to me. I cannot tell you how much it means when you see a letter in the mail or an email from a friend or a family member as it gives you that boost of love. So I want each of you to know how much it meant when you sent something and how much I love each and every one of you!
Love,
Sister Booth
