Subject: Wonderful Week of Training

Hi Family!

 

This past week has been such a great week!  I was able to spend alot of time with me previous companion Sister Dalton.  We had training for four days this week, we did two days in Anchorage and two days in Palmer.  For the first two days Sister Davis went with Sister Squire and they worked their area in Eagle rive while sister Dalton and I went to the training. There was 8 topics that we got to learn about and they broke them down into 2 topics each day.  Intermixed with them was the new videos from the district 2 which is brand new they just filmed in Cali as Randy mentioned. They are alot more realistic and more effective for what they are wanting to teach than the last district. We were told they would be implementing this stuff in the MTC in May of next year.  It was great to get the training we did for those 4 days and to learn things we have already learned with new things and how to better apply them. The biggest thing for me was learning the significance of role plays and how they can be so effective in the mission.

 

For the 2 days that Sister Davis and Squire worked in our area they were able to teach Sonya who we had been trying to set up an appt with for a couple weeks. She moved from anchorage and had been taught by elders there. We are excited to be able to work with her now and recommit her to baptism and help her work through things she is struggling with. We also had a referral we went and saw, it was a member who had a finance who is not a member. She was not aware we were coming so during the lesson I could tell she was distracted and was not really listening to what we were saying. I asked her how she was feeling about us being there and she said she had no warning and would appreciate if we came back when she knew we where going to be there. I am glad that we listened to the spirit as teaching her in that setting would not have been effective and I know when she if ready to listen she will be ready for our message.

 

Not sure if i mentioned this in my other letter but we have a baptism coming up on the 31st.  Nathan Todeschi who we have been teaching since March is getting baptised. I am so excited for the choice he has made and that he has listened to the promptings of the spirit. When we were there this week his wife was talking about the changes he has made and how it does not seem real. She said she never expected her husband to make these  changes and the fact that they can become an eternal family in a year or so makes her so happy. One thing she said that made me smile was " this just seems so unreal you need to come pinch me." just how he is excited to come to church and to be baptised. It is amazing to see how the gospel changes family and the change of heart that takes place, I am so thankful to be a part of it.

 

We also found out that we are going to be able to continue to teach Oscar and EJ so that was great news for us this week. They will not be baptised of course in our ward but we can still be part of the teaching process until they are baptised. I was so grateful when president made that decision as each investigators journey is different and changing things so suddenly could have affected their path.  We met with Oscar this week and he is doing great as we reviewed principles with him and to see different thing resonate with him as he is hearing them again.
