Adventure of Petersburg
Hi Family and Friends!
This last week has been a great week, and full of different experiences. Last week after we hopped on the ferry we realized that we did not know who would be meeting us when we got there. So we made a few phone calls to try and figure it out, well come to find out they did not even know we where coming! We finally got ahold of the RS president who is the wife of the branch president (this place is very small) and she told us she would meet us at the ferry doc at 5am in the morning. The ferry ride was great as we were able to sleep most the time, becuase thankfully they got us a cabin to sleep in.
When we arrived we joined Sister Marsh at her house for seminary, there was only 3 kids there. She proceeded to tell us that is all that comes every morning for seminary. I thought wow, Moapa is really big compared to this place. We then realized that we had no place to live as no one had coordinated that for some reason. So sister Marsh was kind enough for us to stay there but that was not going to work so we ended up landing at her mother-in-law's house. It was a crazy first day for sure, we had no area book or proselyting materials and found out no place to live. So after arranging a temporary spot we went to district meeting to get some grounding and to be on our way to do the best we could.
Petersburg is such an amazing place, the people there are so sweet. We would be given addresses or more told of how to find a house and would end up at the wrong location but because everyone knows everyone in that town they would just point us in the right direction. I could not believe how overly nice the people are there, even the people that are very involved in other religions would let you in and listen to you. We found the elders that were there before did alot of service so there was alot of opportunities for that in the town. We spent a good day setting up service for the transfer so we could get to know the people of pertersburg.
You definitely know you are on an island and a small town when they still pump the gas for you and there are only two service stations and two stores. If you want to leave you must fly or get on a boat, it is the most beautiful place tho. The chappel is a hall way and there are only about 6 rooms in the whole building. I have never been in a church that small but I am excited to get involved with the poeple and there is alot of teaching opportunities there. In the half week we were there we had alot of referrals and were able to teach a new investigator. Joe Prues had been taught for 5 years by the missionary's and does not know his father in heaven. I was pretty awe strucken and know that the lord has a work for us to do there and I am more than excited to do it. I am greatful each day to be here and to be able to be an instrument in the lords hands. Always remember to kneel down each morning and each night as it will make such a difference in your life. I love you all so much!
