Sick Week :(

Hi Family!

So this week was a really long week, but good. It started out Monday with us having two appointments that night. The first called and cancelled, which we where able to reschedule. The last was with Trevor who we have been visiting for 3 or 4 weeks now. He has a major problem with drinking and has gotten a lot better, but has not shown that he wants to quit completely. Also, every time we visit with him he is always asking us for reasons why he should do this as he thinks he is going to hell anyway. It is pretty hard when an investigator keeps telling you this. We have tried to teach him and talk to him about Heavenly Father's plan and to show him that he is a Child of God. But over time I could see that he was not progressing. Well, on Monday night he told us he was going to meet us and the Elders at the church. He did not show up and would not return our phone calls so we left him a message letting him know that when he was serious about things, to let us know. It is sad as I can see the potential for him to change, but really it comes down to him. He has to have the desire to change himself and we cannot do it for him. So we are not helping him at this point. It is hard to make those decisions, but I realize that they have to be done.

Tuesday we had interviews with the Mission President. They went really well and he is happy with the progress we have made in the Wasilla area. Also, he and Sister Dance are going to be able to come to the baptism we are having this Saturday, which I am happy about. We are actually having 4 baptism in the zone that day, so it will be really cool.

Wednesday I woke up feeling sick. I thought it was just a little cold and would not be a big deal. However, it was weird and it kept getting worse as the day went on. By the time we got to Lauri and Stan's, as we always go there every Wednesday night, I could not even talk. Good thing we go to them all the time and they are very understanding. Things went well with Laure and she is excited about her baptism. On Thursday when I woke up, I felt pretty dead, and could not even get out of bed. I have not felt that sick in a long time - I can say that much. The bad part is we had appointments all afternoon and evening already set up. Luckily, we can go on exchanges, so we called some sisters in the ward and I stayed with one while the other went out with Sister Dalton.

The exchanges went really well and Sister Lyman, who went, loved it. She has never served a mission, so being able to get a small dose of missionary life really fascinated her. She bore her testimony about it on Sunday as they went and taught a brand new investigator we tracted into. It made me smile listening to her say: "You know, I did not get how she (the investigator) just did not know." Those of us who have had a knowledge of the gospel most of our life do have a hard time understanding why some take time to really connect with the spirit to figure it out for themselves. Missionary work is amazing and being able to experience and see the change in someone when they do figure it out is amazing and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be out here and to be able to serve.

The rest of the week I wish I could say we did more, but I was sick for 4 days. Yea - not fun at all. By Saturday, I had gotten Sister Dalton sick. Luckily she was not as bad as me. I think it got me with my JME stuff. Anyhow, we were able to at least go to a couple of appointments on Saturday and what not. But Sunday after church we really had a day of rest, as we did not want to go out and get people sick. I am looking forward to this week of feeling better and getting work done. I can say that I really do appreciate being healthy.

Well, I hope all is going well at home and I look forward to talking to all of you on Sunday. I will call at 2pm PST. We are only an hour behind you so that will be 1pm my time.

Love you all!

Sister Booth

Although this probably has nothing to do with either of them being sick, I thought it was appropriate with this email. I guess Sis. Dalton found a fun place to study and sleep :)

Study....

Study some more...

Sleep.

Another incident, not necessarily happening this week, was one
of the Elder companionships had a little "accident."

What's going on?

Sister Dalton checking the damage...

The Elders trying to figure out what to do...

Hopefully there was no damage!!
