"Girl you could squeeze a commitment out of three seconds"
Hi Family and Friends,
This past week has been such a great week! Sister Nay and I had the opportunity on Monday to get a call from our mission president and he asked us if we would be willing to do exchanges with all the sisters in the surrounding areas. We were both very excited for this opportunity as it has never really been done before in the time that we have been serving and we of course always hear about exchanges with the elders. So that evening we planned out our 4 exchanges for the next couple weeks. Thursday was our first exchange which sister squire from eagle river came and worked with me and sister Nay went and worked with sister Young and Hollingstead. It was really fun to be able to work with another sister and to have her angle on things for the day.
The work in this area has been so great, on Monday we went and visited a less active we visit every Monday and we did not have allot of time due to the fact that we needed to be at a baptism we were taking Erica to. Well we wanted to be able to leave a thought as we are trying to work with them to better their lives and come back to church. This family is Hawaiian and the wife is really high maintenance and cracks us up. Well when I was sharing my thought of course it came with a challenge and Stacey turns to me and says, "Girl you do not waste any time, you could squeeze a commitment out of 3 seconds!" We of course all start laughing because it is pretty true, I told her I would challenge anyone if it would help them. She then told me she could see me running a business and I just laughed. We ran off to the baptism that we were meeting Erica at which turned out so great. She had not been to a baptism before and the plan was for her's to be that Saturday. Afterwards we talked about how she was feeling with everything and found out she wants her boyfriend who does not live in Alaska to baptize her. So we talked about a new date which Sister Nay and I felt allot better about. She is going to work for April 23rd and hopefully her boyfriend can make it up here, one thing that was great was brother Lewis was able to give her a blessing to help her over come smoking and when we went to our lesson with her later that week she had not smoked the entire week....AWESOME. I love seeing the spirit of repentance work with people as it can work with the smallest things to the biggest things.
Saturday we also had an exchange which I was with Sister Halatakoua. She is an awesome sister and we were able to teach 5 lessons that day. One of which was Richard who was a potential we had been trying to pick up. He let us in that day and we were able to teach him about the family's and how we have the opportunity to be with them forever. I am excited to continue teaching him and to see him progress. The best day was Sunday when the Goodman family made it to church for the first time in months. Kiara was so happy to be there which was great, our lesson that evening with her went great. She accepted a day to work towards baptism of April 30th and I am really excited for her as she has been investigating the church for a long time. We taught the plan of salvation that night and she said it makes sense and I know that is were I want to be.
I love the gospel it is so amazing how it changes peoples lives each and every day that they choose to live it. I pray each of you are looking forward to hear the words of our prophet and apostles this weekend and know how much it can help you in your life. I am thankful to be here and to know I can choose to be faithful each and every day. I hope all is well with each of you and you know I love you!
Love,
Sister Booth
