Being in the right place at the right time.....listen to the spirit!!!
Dear Friends and Family,
What a wonderful week! There could not be any better way to end a week then to witness two people get baptized. The baptism were so wonderful and to feel the spirit of both of them was great. I just love seeing both of their faces as they came out of the water and to see the light and joy in their eyes!
We also had the opportunity to start teaching two new people this week. One of them is a special circumstance given from out ward. His name is Justin Tabbilos and the ward found out that he did not have a baptismal record at all even though we all thought he had been baptized. Well come to find out he was baptized in the Philippians and they never recorded it with the church and they could not track down the witnesses for the baptism either. It was pretty sad as I am sure he does not want to go through the process again. The ward talked to him and he decided as he is ready for the priesthood to go through the process so he can have his record in the church. The lesson went really well with him and it is awesome as every one's testimony can grow from going back to the basics and learning again. Graham Moore is the other gentlemen we taught who is dating an Easton girl in the Campbell park ward. He is very nice and received the lesson well. We committed him to pray and read about the book and Mormon which he accepted. He did not grow up going to one specific church and has gone to many churches in his life, he asked us what it is called if a person just believes in God. I chuckled with that and told him that he could call himself just that a person who believes in God. He is open to learning and I hope his learning disability is not a crutch for him in embracing the gospel.
We also taught Kristi and Marybeth who are doing so good and even came to Erica's baptism. They are very ready to receive the gospel and have such bright spirits. I am excited to see them continue in this journey of learning and to continue to accept this gospel. They both learn so differently as Marybeth is very emotionally tied to her faith and feels the emotion of everything we are teaching through the spirit. And Kristi is more knowledge of soaking it all in and taking her time to slowly feel it. I love seeing people grasp and take in the gospel all at their own levels and to see them draw closer to their heavenly father. This gospel is AMAZING and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be here and to share it!
The weather here is so nice, as it does not get above 65 most days and I am really enjoying it. My companion reminds me that is is not normal to some days were long sleeves in the summer and I am thinking oh ya but hey we are in Alaska! We were able to hike flat top a couple week ago and I just loved it as you could see all of Anchorage and the Ocean from the top and it was to pretty. There are just so many parts of this land that are breath taking!
Well I hope you are all doing amazing and know how much I love and miss you! Thanks for all your support! Have a wonderful upcoming week as I know I will!!
Love,
