It's the 1st Baptism in Alaska!

As Sister Booth says in her letter below, she was able to attend a baptism the first full day of being in Alaska! What a great way to get started! Amanda is the person being baptized. Here she is with Sister Booth and Sister Dalton:

Here they are again:

Here she is with her mom (I think):

Like I said, what an amazing experience to start out with when arriving to Alaska! Here's Sister Booth's first letter home after arriving in Alaska:

Subject: First Week in the Mission Field

Hi Friends and Family!

So I am writing to my friends and family so yes, Mom, please forward this to my friends. First to friends, I cannot email you, but you can reply to me. If you do reply, will you please include your physical address so I can write you back? I would love to hear from you, and of course if you can write a physical letter that would be great!

So last Wednesday is the day I arrived in the great state of Alaska, and it is very pretty here. The mountains are covered in white as I am sure you can all imagine. The Mission President and his wife are so amazing! The first day we were all able to attend a baptism in the area and to visit with President Dance and his wife. The very next day we received our assignments. I was assigned to the Wasilla area, where I am serving in the Wasilla Stake and Ward. I LOVE it here already! My companion is Sister Dalton and she is awesome! She has been very good with training and showing me the ropes.

The 2nd day being here we taught two investigators the 5th lesson in preparing them for baptism. I was pretty lucky to participate in two baptisms the first week being here. I guess they are the first baptisms this ward has had in almost 9 months, so my companions said I should feel lucky. The investigators were awesome kids and were so eager to participate in the gospel. We are also teaching some great people, which I am very excited about.

We went tracting and a lady let us in and we talked to her for 40 minutes. It was a great experience and we are scheduled to go back. I am super excited about her and her openness to learn new things. I am loving sharing the gospel and being here with the people in Alaska.

I hope all is going well back home. From what mom has written me, it sounds good. Tosha, sorry about your run-in on your trip to Dumont. I am glad you look at it in the positive light:)

Mom please send this to my Bishop or have one of my friends!

I love you all!

Sister Booth
