Hi Family,
So this week was a very long week, to say the least. Last Sunday evening my companion and I both came in and I go to get a vita pack. There is only one kind left, so I ask her if she wants it and she says that she needs it. I am thinking: "why?" I needed it as I could feel a cold coming on and apparently she did as well. Well what do you know, Monday morning Sister Dalton and I both woke up with a cold. Kind of a bummer to start out our week, to say the least.
I would have to say that we still had a really good week, all things considered. We were able to teach a new investigator on Tuesday. His wife, who is a member, we have been teaching for some time now and we have talked about teaching her husband. Well, she talked to him and he decided that he wanted to learn more. It went really well and he was excited to read and learn more about the BOM. With jobs here is it hard because they often work on the slopes or the mines. How that works is they will work 2 weeks on and 1 off, or 4 weeks on and 2 off. So you will find that husbands are gone from families for weeks at a time. This puts a little damper in teaching the lessons as we have to wait for them to come back in order to schedule the next one and they are not able to attend church out there as there is no church to attend. But where there is a will there is a way, and I know the Lord will make it possible for them to be taught.
We where also able to meet with Trevor again this week. He is progressing slowly, as he has a lot of questions. I am loving it as it challenges me to learn more so we can answer all the questions he has. He is eager to learn and to change his life. He just needs to commit to not drink anymore, which I know he can do. Lauri and Stan, who are investigators that were being taught before I got here, are now ready to be taught again. She is such a sweet lady and she cooks for us every week. She is bipolar and was going through a rough 3 or 4 weeks, but now is doing really well. We are going to teach them over again so they can pick up what they did not learn and see where they are at. She gave us an Easter gift and spoiled us like we where her kids. She is just too sweet.
Later in the week we had to slow down as Sister Dalton came down with bronchitis. I have to say I am thankful I have not had that before. She has had it many times and I guess is prone to getting it. So we ended up staying home one evening so she could rest and not cough up a lung. She is getting better now, though, and is on medicine. It is hard to be sick and have to slow down. I can tell you that much. We had lunch with Oscar that day and I am thankful he understood. He is finally back from Vegas so we were able to catch up and continue teaching him. He is doing great and is excited about everything. I love seeing his testimony develop as he continues to change and learn about the savior.
Conference this weekend was amazing. I have to say this was the first time I have watched it at the church, as we always watched it at home growing up and after. I actually stayed awake for all 4 sessions and took so many notes. I loved a lot of the talks. Mom I would agree with you that Elder Holland is one of my favorites with the power and way he delivers his talks. A lot of the others were great as well and they all tied together, which was awesome. For Easter a member of the ward did food from the passover and read the story. It was a neat way to celebrate Easter. I hope you all enjoyed it and remember our Savior everyday.
I love you all and hope you are doing well.
